Description
Introducing the RED V-RAPTOR 8K VV DSMC3
The RED V-RAPTOR 8K VV is the first camera of the new DSMC3 generation from RED Digital Cinema Camera. Barely larger than the KOMODO and lightweight, the V-RAPTOR incorporates a new 35.4MP 8K full-frame CMOS sensor.
This sensor has the highest dynamic range of any RED camera and the fastest cinema-quality line scan ever recorded. Its dynamic range of 17+ stops and scan times twice as fast as previous RED cameras allow users to capture up to 600 fps in 2K. RED's proprietary REDCODE RAW codec allows users to capture 16-bit RAW files and to take advantage of the latest IPP2 workflow and RED's colour management.
The new sensor offers multi-format capture in 8K VistaVision, 6K Super35, 4K, 3K Super16 and anamorphic options. This versatility allows you to adapt your format from one project to the next, depending on your choice from a variety of professional cine or stills lenses. The camera incorporates the Canon RF lens mount and has a locking ring that provides additional security when used with heavier lenses and for stable capture at wide apertures. In addition, numerous lens adapters allow you to work with a different lens mount.
To meet the demands of its community, RED has added a user interface with an LCD screen on the right-hand side, which allows control of the power supplies on the camera. The physical buttons help to avoid accidental selections, and the ability to save user pages allows you to customise the interface as you wish.
Finally, the RED V-RAPTOR ST 8K VV DSMC3 incorporates 2 4K 12G-SDI outputs, which make it possible to send mirrored feeds to two screens, or individual feeds with or without focus peaking, timecode or other elements. The camera also features an XLR audio output, phantom power via an adapter and a USB Type-C port for streaming up to 1080p.
